By The Time You Read This....

So here it is, my first book review. This book is called By the Time You Read This by Lola Jaye.
Basically, it's an easy read, thought-provoking and sad. Would I tell you to run out and by it asap? No. It's about a little girl who receives a manual from her father. A manual about life. He writes it to her when she is still a little girl and has a family member give it to her when she is of an age to begin to understand it's lessons. The reason that her father writes the manual is because he is dying. He knows and understands how hard it will be for her to miss out on having a father figure in her life. He writes to her about everything from the first kiss, dating, succeeding at work, saving money, and making friends. He talks to her about regrets that he has had in his life, hoping that even though he is no longer in her life, he'll be able to help her through some hard times. It's sweet. It's well-written, it seems to move slow because she can only really read a chapter of the manual with each birthday and look up things in the index if she comes across a sticky situation. What's so nice about the book is, it's what every little girl wants to hear from her dad. Even though he is not in her life, he is very much available for her during hard times. And, I find it sad that people who still have their dads around don't hear the kind words that he writes to his daughter. I would recommend this book for anyone who for whatever reason, missed out on a dad, lost a dad, or never knew their dad. It's touching, but  I didn't find it hard to put down.

As a side note, I just ordered my first book to review on booksneeze.com----I should be receiving it this week...I'll keep you in suspense on the title until then. Presently, I'm reading a book called Irreplaceable by Stephen Lovely. Yes, Lovely. I'm looking forward to a review for you on that one.
